Blinds & Awnings for Broadacres & Cedar Lakes

Newer cluster and estate homes just south of Chartwell — family-focused living that still calls for real sun control on generous glazing.

The homes

Newer builds, tighter stands, the same highveld sun

Broadacres and Cedar Lakes sit just south of Chartwell, and the housing stock is a step newer — cluster and estate developments rather than smallholdings, with open-plan kitchen-and-living areas opening onto a compact garden or pool rather than a paddock. Stands are more contained, but the glazing is still generous by most standards, and the west and north afternoon sun doesn't care how big the garden is.

Most homes here are family homes, which changes what we recommend first: child-safe control matters as much as fabric choice, and the practical, easy-clean roller blind tends to do more of the work than in a formal, heritage-style interior.

The same highveld storm season applies — wind and hail from roughly November to March — so any awning or exterior product still gets specified with a wind sensor, whatever the stand size.

Worth reading first: the elevations here are smaller than Chartwell's but they face the same sun. Nothing in the Way, our free Chartwell Light Journal, sets out where the light lands north, east, south and west through the year, and which product actually answers each one — with the trade-offs written down.
